Stained Glass Classes
In the beginning-stained glass class, you will make your choice of patterns (provided) piece of art, using any glass that you choose! We will teach you how to cut and grind glass, how to apply copper foil, and how to solder and frame your piece. This class lasts 2 days in a row starting at 10:30 and ending at around 4:00, with a lunch break. You can bring your own lunch or go out, whichever you prefer.
All glass and materials you use are included in the cost of the class.
We also offer intermediate, and advanced stained-glass classes for those that have experience with stained glass. Call us for information on those!
In this class, you will use Oceanside glass to create two plates. Using your choice of color in sheet glass, frit, and stringers, and your creativity, you will make something unique. Your first plate will be designed as instructed to get you comfortable with the basic way fused pieces need to be assembled. The second plate will be designed by you, be sure to bring your creative ideas with you. After your class, we’ll put your plates in the kiln overnight and the next day, they go into the kiln in a mold, ready to be picked up and used within a few days! All glass and materials you use are included in the cost of the class.
In our glass mosaics class, we will discuss theory and techniques, then begin working on a project of your choosing. Please bring a design that is around 18x20 inches, this design can be anything you choose. You will trace your project onto your work surface, then decide what glass you’d like to use. We’ll start the project and teach you different techniques to get the best outcome from the glass. This project is typically pretty time consuming, therefore you will be given glass to take home and work on the project at your own pace. Once you finish, we will schedule you for a second class, where we will teach you how to properly grout a glass mosaic piece. We will help frame the finalized piece to your liking.
Learn to fuse in a fun, artistic, and creative way. You will use frit, stringers, and sheet glass to create a picture. You will use an 11x14 inch piece of glass as your canvas, then layer frit and stringers. Depending on your choices it may be a day or two of class. Ask for more information on this. You are welcome to bring a picture for general inspiration and ideas. Once you are happy with the picture, we will fuse it in our kiln overnight and depending on your design it will be ready the next day or if you decide to add more to it we will extend this class to a second day. If you decide you want to hang your piece, we can teach you how to do this as well.
All glass and materials you use are included in the cost of the class.
This class is for children, 5-16 years of age. Time varies depending on children’s age and attention, but usually runs about 2-4 hours. They can make a small fused picture or jewelry. Parents are welcome to stay with their children. Finished pieces will be fired in our kiln overnight and will be ready the following afternoon in most cases.
All glass and materials you use are included in the cost of the class.
We would be happy to schedule a private class for you and your friends. It is also a good team building activity for co-workers. Prices would depend on class projects. This is a great way to build memories! Call for more information.
Pizza and Play classes typically happen on Sundays or in the evening when the store is closed. This is a fun, relaxed class, that includes dinner. If you have something you are interested in learning, let us know and we’ll see if we can incorporate it into this type of class! Call for more information and pricing
